About Us
Teach Coll A Welcoming Pub In The Heart Of The Gaeltacht
“Teach Coll” is a long established family run public house located in the North West Donegal Gaeltacht townland of Magheroarty.
Magheroarty is amongst one the most scenic places on the coast line of Ireland.
The pub was established around 1900 by James Coll, the proprietors great grandfather. The name “Teach Coll” originates from this, meaning the house of Coll. The Pub is presently run by the fourth generation of the family.
The Food Locally Sourced, Freshly Made Creations
In August 2016 we re-ignited our passion for good local food after a 20 year hiatus when Edward and Billie took over management of the pub.
A new modern kitchen was built and interior revamped resulting in a cosy bar & restaurant in which the menu emphasises on Teach Coll’s proximity to the Sea & Wild Wild Atlantic Way, allowing us to take advantage of the many local Marine/Agri -Food produce & businesses.
Local Ingredients
Our dishes are created using quality ingredients. We are committed to sourcing locally and supporting small food producers wherever possible.
Delicious Food
We hope to welcome you to experience our delicious menu in a cosy welcoming enviroment.
Variety Of Drinks
In addition to the food we also have a variety of drinks to choose from, whether it be alcohol free drinks to quality wines, draught beers to local craft beers and a varied selection of spirits, There is something for everyone to accompany their meal with.
The Location Enjoy Breathtaking Views
Nestled between Mount Errigal and Bloody Foreland along the Wild Atlantic Way, Teach Coll overlooks the magnificent Magheroarty Beach, Inisboffin and Tory Island with Muckish Mountain and Horn Head in the distance.
Teach Coll is the perfect place to stop off for a relaxing drink or a bite to eat in a cosy atmosphere, whether your travelling along the Wild Atlantic Way, spending time visiting the area or you just want to get out of the house.
A warm and welcoming atmosphere is provided by the Gaelige Speaking proprietor and his family. They will be happy to teach you a “cupla focal”.

Great selection of dishes including several vegan and vegetarian choices. Portion size, quality and taste were excellent, as was the Guinness and the desert. All came at a very reasonable price with fast service in a nice surrounding and the staff was very friendly and chatty. We will definitely be back!VerifiedJoe K2024-04-09Great fresh seafood We came here for a big family Good Friday dinner whilst on holiday. There were 17 of us from 7 to 70 years old, and each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We shared multiple starters, including prawns and oysters and they were fantastic. Most people had fish for mains and it was delicious and fresh. The service was good and the views from outside the pub/ restaurant were great.VerifiedBreda B2023-10-29Amazing place. We ordered Mussels to share, which we were glad of as the portion was huge, they tasted fabulous too. I had fish & chips while my husband had a steak sandwich. The fish was the best I had tasted for a long time, homemade tartar sauce accompanied the dish. The chips were fine too. The steak sandwich was tasty but it was the fish that was outstanding. The service was fast & very friendly. We are already looking forward to our next visit.VerifiedTravel7912862023-09-12Top class food. Stayed nearby in Gortahork. Our family have been staying in the area most years for about 30 years now but this was our first visit to Colls. I had steak the night before so had a chicken instead. Sounds boring but I never knew you could make a chicken burger so nice with such flavour, everyone else in our party of 6 had steak and it was also beautiful. Great guinness too. Staying in donegal again on 22nd Sept so will have to make our way here again. Top class.VerifiedFearless283858106012023-09-02Omg what a beautiful meal This was our first time here and can honestly say it's the best sea food we have had in donegal. Arriving in the early evening on a Friday night into the area we hadn't realised all other restaurants might be full. We were 20 minutes away but was well with the visit. Highly recommended!VerifiedDavid B2023-07-27Absolutely wonderful! Went here as 2 couples. Setting is lovely looking over the bay/harbour. Ambience could have done with a little improvement but the food was totally amazing. So good we ate there for both nights on our 2 night stay!! The mussels were fantastic and so was the seabass. Good options for vegetarians too.Verifiedgreeney822023-06-12Great night with good food and company Pleasantly surprised by the interior and atmosphere as looks quiet from the outside!
